Description

You will lead the development and optimization of PVD processes for high-efficiency solar cells used in Starlink satellites and Starship missions. Your work involves scaling production from equipment procurement to ramp-up, ensuring high yield, low cost, and reliability for space-based applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
  • 1+ years of experience in chemical engineering design, analysis, or system implementation
  • Hands-on experience in PVD process engineering (preferred 5+ years in thin-film solar, semiconductor, or display manufacturing)
  • Proven track record of scaling PVD processes to high-volume production
  • Strong understanding of vacuum systems, plasma physics, and thin-film characterization techniques

Responsibilities

  • Design, qualify, and optimize PVD sputtering processes for SHJ front and back contacts at GW-scale volumes
  • Lead process development for new toolsets and materials, including target management and defect reduction
  • Develop and implement new manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies
  • Analyze production processes from a first principles, physics-based approach
  • Perform defect characterization and root cause analysis to improve yields
