Staff Mechanical Engineer, Factory Automation

Description
You'll design and develop tools and factory automation equipment that enable the production of Terran R rockets. Working at the intersection of design, manufacturing, and automation, you'll create solutions ranging from large-scale structural fixtures to small tools, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to bring concepts to life on the factory floor.
Requirements
- Experience in mechanical design and development of production tooling and automation
- Ability to handle a wide range of technical problems, including material handling, assembly fixtures, and custom machines
- Strong understanding of design and drafting standards (ASME Y14.5)
- Proven track record of working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
- Staff-level engineering experience with demonstrated autonomy and impact
Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality tooling and automation solutions for Terran R vehicle and Aeon engine programs
- Design and integrate mechanical systems across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Apply ASME Y14.5 drafting standards to create tooling drawings
- Collaborate with component designers, manufacturing engineers, and integration engineers to optimize safety, cost, quality, cycle time, and reliability
