🛠 Tech Stack
💼 About This Role
You'll own the CFD workflow for heat exchanger components at a company building productized nuclear plants. You'll drive thermal-fluid analysis from first-pass sizing through detailed geometry decisions, turning simulations into trade studies that directly inform hardware design. The role emphasizes end-to-end ownership and continuous improvement of modeling speed and consistency.
🎯 What You'll Do
- Build and run CFD models for heat exchanger components and flow paths.
- Drive pressure drop and heat transfer performance predictions and trade studies.
- Develop a repeatable CFD workflow: geometry → mesh → solve → post-process → report.
- Execute parametric sweeps and sensitivity analyses for rapid design iteration.
📋 Requirements
- B.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering field.
- 4+ years of hands-on CFD experience in thermal-fluids applications.
- Proficiency in at least one major CFD solver: ANSYS Fluent/CFX, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, or COMSOL.
- Strong fundamentals in heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
✨ Nice to Have
- M.S./PhD in a related field.
- Multi-phase or boiling/condensing modeling experience.
- Python-based automation of meshing/runs/post-processing.
🎁 Benefits & Perks
- ⚛️ Work on cutting-edge nuclear energy
- 🏢 Onsite in Austin, TX or Washington, DC
- 📊 Hands-on CFD ownership
- 🔬 Collaborate with mechanical design and systems engineering
