Description

You will represent low-income homeowners facing foreclosure through litigation, negotiation, and community outreach. Your work with Staten Island Legal Services will involve direct advocacy, policy work, and collaboration with coalitions to preserve homeownership and combat predatory lending.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Admitted or in process of admission to practice law in New York State
• Strong background in public interest law and foreclosure prevention
• Commitment to racial, social, and economic justice

Responsibilities

• Direct client advocacy in foreclosure prevention litigation and non-litigation efforts
• Intake, community education, and outreach
• Active participation in foreclosure-prevention taskforces and working groups
• Support foreclosure-prevention law and policy through coalition work and collaborations
• Administrative tasks for grant compliance including timekeeping and case documentation
