💼 About This Role

You'll lead the production pathway for next-generation uncrewed underwater vehicles (UUVs), ensuring the transition from prototype to a documented, repeatable, production-ready platform across a 40-unit build. You'll resolve cross-domain design deadlocks with whole-system engineering judgment and drive integration testing from bench to open-water trials.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Own design documentation, version control, and assembly instructions
• Lead integration of subsystems (flight-controller, edge compute, hydrophone array, satcom, etc.)
• Define and execute test strategy from bench through tank to sea trials
• Resolve competing design approaches with whole-system UUV knowledge

📋 Requirements

• Built, integrated, tested, and deployed complex electromechanical systems in real environments
• Make systems-level engineering decisions across mechanical, electrical, and embedded boundaries
• Resolve technical trade-offs under ambiguity and document reasoning transparently
• Led design reviews and coordinated technical output across multi-disciplinary teams

✨ Nice to Have

• Direct experience with UUVs, AUVs, or underwater gliders
• Familiarity with subsea communications (Iridium SBD), underwater acoustics, or Jetson
• Experience in defence or defence-adjacent programmes including LARS and vessel operations
