💼 About This Role

You'll lead the design and roadmap for the multi-stage training system powering Waymo's perception models. You'll optimize end-to-end training latency and solve large-scale training challenges with millions of miles of driving data. This role offers the chance to shape training infrastructure at the forefront of autonomous driving technology.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Design roadmap and implement multi-stage training system for foundation models
• Optimize end-to-end training latency to meet release cadence
• Solve large-scale training with multi-model, multi-task, and large models
• Drive collaborations between Perception, infra teams, and Alphabet collaborators

📋 Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science or related field
• 8+ years in ML-related software development
• 6+ years in ML-driven production systems with large-scale data and training
• 4+ years in a technical leadership role setting technical directions

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience in LLM and multi-modality LM pretraining and fine-tuning
• Experience in model distillation techniques and infrastructure
• Familiarity with vision-based models and their development challenges
