Description

You will own the Data Storage team at Chime, building and operating reliable, scalable, and secure storage foundations that power analytics, experimentation, and AI-driven product experiences. You'll define storage strategies, data contracts, and SLAs for both high-scale batch workloads and latency-sensitive online use cases, enabling trusted, self-serve, AI-ready data across the company.

Requirements

• 8+ years experience in high-scale software development with focus on platforms and data storage
• 3+ years experience managing engineering teams including hiring and performance management
• Deep experience with data lakes/lakehouses (e.g., Iceberg), data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake), and streaming systems
• Proficient in Python or similar languages (Java, Scala) and SQL for analytical workloads
• Experience in cloud-based data ecosystems (AWS S3, DynamoDB, Redshift, Snowflake, EMR; GCP BigQuery, Dataflow)

Responsibilities

• Own strategy and roadmap for Data Storage Platform (Snowflake, data lake, online data stores)
• Design scalable, high-performance storage architecture balancing reliability, cost, and usability
• Ensure performant and secure data access through partitioning, clustering, indexing, and caching
• Build tooling for governance and compliance (RBAC, PII protection, tokenization, lineage) in partnership with Security
• Manage and grow a team of engineers, setting expectations and fostering engineering excellence
