You'll provide technical leadership for onboard motion planning systems at Waymo, improving low-speed maneuvering performance. You'll directly solve challenging driving situations in the long tail. This hybrid role offers mentorship and the chance to shape the future of autonomous driving.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Provide technical leadership for onboard motion planning systems.
• Improve evaluation capabilities to understand on-road performance.
• Mentor junior engineers on the team.
• Investigate driving behavior issues from logs and identify root causes.

📋 Requirements

• MS/PHD in Computer Science, ML, Robotics, or equivalent practical experience.
• General software engineering experience in C++ with robust code.
• Ability to collaborate within and across teams.
• 1+ year of management experience with 5+ reports.

✨ Nice to Have

• AV or Robotics experience.
• Experience with Machine Learning models in production.
• Experience in graph search, optimization, or path planning algorithms.
• 8+ years of Software Engineering experience in complex systems.
