💼 About This Role

You'll build libraries and tools that accelerate research at Thinking Machines Lab, owning internal infrastructure like evaluation and RL training libraries. Your work will compound research velocity and delight researchers. You'll collaborate directly with researchers to identify bottlenecks and own tooling like a product manager.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Design and build research infrastructure including evaluation and training systems.
• Develop high-throughput pipelines for distributed evaluation and reward modeling.
• Build systems for reproducibility, traceability, and quality control.
• Implement monitoring and observability for research experiments.

📋 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS, engineering, or ML.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and maintainable systems.
• Proficiency in Python or Rust.
• Experience in highly collaborative cross-functional environments.

• Track record of building tooling for researchers with high adoption.
• Experience building ML research infrastructure like training frameworks.
• Contributions to open-source ML tools or internal research frameworks.
