💼 About This Role

You'll own the technical regulatory strategy and safety cases for FAA launch and reentry authorizations as the primary architect for mission safety. Your core impact will be ensuring flight hardware and reentry methodologies meet regulatory safety thresholds through risk modeling and verification. This role bridges complex engineering trades and regulatory approval at a fast-growing space startup.

🎯 What You'll Do

  • Develop safety cases and Means of Compliance for FAA Part 450 licensing.
  • Conduct functional hazard analyses (FHA) and failure mode analyses (FMEA).
  • Maintain Expected Casualty and debris risk models for all mission phases.
  • Establish safety limits and mission rules for real-time operations.
  • Serve as Flight Safety engineer during mission rehearsals and recovery.

📋 Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, or related engineering field.
  • 5+ years of relevant aerospace engineering experience in mission assurance or flight safety.
  • Demonstrated experience with FAA Part 450 and expected casualty modeling.
  • Strong experience with risk management tools like FMEA, FHA, or Fault Tree Analysis.
