💼 About This Role

You'll drive new-customer activation across AssemblyAI's product lines, owning the journey from a developer's first API call to consistent production usage. You'll partner with Sales, Support, Product, and Engineering to unblock customers and ship patches directly in their codebases. This role offers outsized ownership at a lean, high-impact AI company serving 2M+ hours of audio daily.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Own a portfolio of in-flight leads, driving them from first API call to production usage.
• Proactively reach out when developer usage ramps, diagnosing and removing blockers.
• Read unfamiliar customer codebases and ship working patches alongside their engineers.
• Tune model configurations for each use case and translate tradeoffs to stakeholders.
• Run discovery and architecture conversations; steward technical wins to commercial close.

📋 Requirements

• 2+ years in a customer-facing engineering role (sales engineer, solutions architect, etc.)
• Strong hands-on engineering skills in Python or JavaScript/Node.
• Working fluency with real-time and streaming protocols (WebSockets, audio pipelines, latency budgets).
• Track record of carrying a number (net new customers, activation rate, expansion ARR) and hitting it.

✨ Nice to Have

• Prior experience with voice AI, ASR, or speech-to-text.
• Aggressive use of AI tooling in workflow (Claude Code, Cursor, Devin).
• Built or shipped your own custom agents or AI workflows.
