💼 About This Role

You'll be the technical area lead for the Mobile Channels team at Klaviyo, driving architecture and technical direction across SMS, RCS, WhatsApp, and emerging channels. You'll define the cross-team technical roadmap, own architectural patterns, and lead the most complex multi-team initiatives end-to-end. This hands-on role connects technical strategy across a high-growth messaging pillar.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Define and drive the cross-team technical roadmap for Mobile Channels.
• Own architectural patterns across message ingestion, routing, provider integration, status tracking, compliance automation, and deliverability.
• Lead high-stakes design reviews and build prototypes to de-risk decisions.
• Partner with Engineering Managers to sequence cross-team work realistically.

📋 Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience building and scaling distributed backend systems.
• Proficiency in Python and/or Go.
• Deep experience with high-throughput, event-driven, distributed architectures.
• Strong experience with AWS at scale and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).

✨ Nice to Have

• Prior experience as a Lead, Staff, or Principal engineer driving technical direction across multiple teams.
• Experience with modern observability stacks (metrics, logs, traces, SLI/SLO design).
• Experience with mobile messaging channels (SMS, RCS, WhatsApp) or similar communication platforms.
