💼 About This Role
You'll join the Systems Engineering team supporting the NEXRAD radar network for the National Weather Service. You'll conduct feasibility studies and implement NOAA-directed secure configurations to ensure reliability of the nation's weather infrastructure. This role offers direct impact on critical weather systems.
🎯 What You'll Do
- Provide system design and requirements analysis for complex systems.
- Conduct feasibility, cost/benefit, and alternatives analysis for modifications.
- Develop technical specifications, design documents, and integration plans.
- Perform system integration and testing to validate functionality and performance.
📋 Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
- Familiarity with wide-area networking concepts (MPLS, BGP, satellite, 4G/5G, VSAT)
- Strong hands-on experience with Linux (RHEL or Embedded Linux)
- Proficiency in a programming/scripting language (Python, Matlab, Expect)
✨ Nice to Have
- Exposure to RF communication systems or radar systems
- Experience with embedded systems or real-time Linux
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink or AutoCAD/Visio
