💼 About This Role

You'll own the quantitative safety case for Zipline's autonomous delivery systems, defining what "acceptably safe" means. You'll drive top-down hazard analyses and ensure operational learning feeds back into engineering priorities. This role offers real authority to shape safety strategy at a global scale.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Own the quantitative safety case and decompose safety objectives into system requirements
• Lead fault tree analysis for safety-related events and hazard budget allocation
• Monitor evolving risks to keep safety analyses valid as designs and operations scale
• Grow and lead a small System Risk and Safety Engineering team

📋 Requirements

• BS/MS in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
• 8+ years delivering safety-critical electromechanical systems into operation
• Demonstrated ownership of system-level safety analysis and decision-making
• Experience with hazard analysis techniques such as fault trees, FMEA, and risk modeling

• Experience at the intersection of engineering design and live operations
• Exposure to regulator-facing safety cases or certification efforts
• Experience scaling cross-functional Safety Management Systems
