Description

You will drive the technical substance of autonomy validation, defining scenario coverage strategies, designing large-scale simulation campaigns, and managing fault injection. Your work ensures that validation is technically sound, traceable, and systematically closing coverage gaps, directly contributing to the safety and reliability of Nuro's autonomous vehicle platform.

Requirements

  • 4-6 years in systems engineering, autonomy validation, or technically-focused TPM in AV, robotics, or aerospace
  • Deep familiarity with scenario-based testing and coverage-driven validation
  • Strong systems engineering fundamentals: requirements traceability, V&V methodology, failure mode analysis
  • Ability to engage technically with autonomy, simulation, and hardware engineers
  • Comfortable owning ambiguous technical problems and driving structured conclusions

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical framework for measuring validation coverage across safety-critical, edge-case, and adversarial scenarios
  • Design large-scale simulation campaigns including scenario selection, variation strategies, metrics definition, and results interpretation
  • Define fault injection strategies for degraded-mode validation based on FMEA and system-level failure analysis
  • Maintain traceability between system requirements, test definitions, and validation evidence
  • Communicate complex validation logic and coverage gaps to engineering leads and stakeholders
