Description

As a Ground Systems Engineer I, you will be responsible for designing, building, and activating critical test infrastructure for the Archimedes rocket engine and Neutron launch vehicle at Rocket Lab's test facility in Mississippi. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver functional control systems and support hot fire tests and checkout operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or controls engineering
  • Demonstrated experience designing, building, and operating controls or mechatronic systems at aerospace test or launch facilities
  • Experience with National Instruments LabVIEW software and hardware
  • Knowledge of electrical safety and design codes like NFPA 70A
  • Working knowledge of computer networks and IT infrastructure

Responsibilities

  • Design test infrastructure: process diagrams, line drawings, electrical system layout, data acquisition and instrumentation systems
  • Specify and procure electrical and computer systems equipment including data acquisition, PLC, and instrumentation
  • Coordinate with vendors and facilities groups to design, purchase, and fabricate key subsystems
  • Collaborate with test and launch sites to ensure safety and seamless operation of electrical ground systems
  • Work onsite for build-out activation: prepare test procedures, interface with data acquisition and control systems, collect and interpret data
