Description

You will spearhead the design of next-generation Direct Air Capture systems, focusing on gas flow management and dynamic seals. Collaborate with the engineering team to develop mission-critical subsystems, optimizing for leak rate, wear, reliability, and cost. This role is based onsite in Berkeley, California, and offers the opportunity to make a measurable impact on climate change.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; Master's a plus
• 10+ years of mechanical design experience with expertise in fluid flow management, mechanism design and dynamic seals
• Proficient with CAD systems and Solidworks; CFD experience (Ansys CFX) a plus
• Ability to guide technicians through prototyping and testing process; hands-on experience a big plus
• Ability to climb stairs/ladders, stoop, crouch, operate machinery, and lift loads up to 50 lbs

Responsibilities

• Spearhead design engineering for next-generation DAC technology advancing gas flow management, dynamic seals, nitrogen generation and purification
• Design and develop mission critical subsystems optimizing for leak rate, wear, reliability and cost
• Work on a DOE DAC Hub grant to pioneer scalable direct air capture solutions
• Partner with a team of motivated engineers to drive impactful climate solutions
