Description

You'll lead an R&D initiative to explore whether LLMs can diagnose complex database issues from telemetry data, working embedded with technical support engineers to validate and prototype AI-powered diagnostic workflows for CockroachDB.

Requirements

• Thrive in exploratory, prototype-driven environments working closely with end users
• Experience with LLM APIs and prompt engineering
• Proficiency in Go and Python
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure
• Ability to work with complex structured data and high-frequency logs

Responsibilities

• Design experiments to test whether LLMs can assist with root cause analysis on Zendesk escalations
• Collaborate with Bangalore technical support team to understand diagnostic workflows and review results
• Process diagnostic telemetry including cluster metrics, SQL traces, system logs, and observability data
• Experiment with OpenAI/Anthropic APIs, prompt engineering, and different data contexts
• Build rapid prototypes and establish success metrics for LLM accuracy
