Description

You will teach computer science to middle school students using the Hello World curriculum, focusing on computational thinking, coding, and project-based units in virtual reality, web development, and AI. You'll design engaging lessons, use data to adjust instruction, and build strong relationships with students and families.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (any field); Computer Science or STEM preferred
• Teacher certification (lapsed certifications ok) or enrollment in alternative certification program
• Instructional readiness to accelerate learning and contribute to strong team outcomes
• Achievement orientation with belief in all students meeting grade-level expectations
• Commitment to educational equity in Washington, DC and strong relationship-building skills

Responsibilities

• Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned computer science instruction using Hello World curriculum
• Teach coding, computational thinking, and digital problem-solving through explicit modeling and hands-on experiences
• Design whole-group and small-group learning experiences aligned to formative and summative data
• Use student work and assessments to identify skill gaps and adjust instruction weekly or daily
• Participate in planning cycles including internalization, rehearsal, and debrief
