💼 About This Role

You'll design and deliver production-grade backend systems for Upstart's new revolving credit product. You'll own core services that power underwriting, pricing, and servicing with strong correctness guarantees. This is a high ownership greenfield environment where you'll shape architecture and integrate generative AI from day one.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Design and build distributed backend systems for a consumer credit product.
• Own services for underwriting, pricing, ledgering, and transactions.
• Break down ambiguous requirements into clear technical designs and milestones.
• Integrate AI-driven decisioning into real-time user flows with strict latency constraints.

📋 Requirements

• Bachelor's in CS or related field (or equivalent) plus 4+ years of experience.
• Strong experience with distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, Kotlin, C#, or Ruby and relational databases.
• Hands-on experience with generative AI in production, including LLM APIs.
