💼 About This Role

You'll join the Planner Evaluation team at Waymo to develop signals measuring the performance of autonomous driving software using statistics, machine learning, and simulation. You'll analyze real-world driving logs and simulation data to drive data-driven decisions. This role offers short projects across different internal customer teams with the chance to champion code health in a complex codebase.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Develop signals to measure driving performance using statistics, math, and ML.
• Use simulation and real-world logs to evaluate driving quality.
• Design methods linking onboard software changes to simulated outcomes.
• Collaborate to deliver evaluation products and data-driven decisions.

📋 Requirements

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Robotics, Statistics, Physics, or Math.
• 5+ years industry experience with a large codebase using C++, Python, SQL.
• Experience performing statistical analyses and building data pipelines.
• Quantitative data fluency and strong self-motivation.

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience coding in C++.
• Experience with ML or A/B experiment infrastructure.
• Experience in the autonomous vehicle industry.
