Description

You will provide technical leadership for the Marketplace Experience team at Affirm, shaping the evolution of systems that help shoppers discover merchants and financing options. This hands-on role involves setting long-term technical strategy, leading cross-team initiatives, and mentoring engineers while balancing product velocity with technical sustainability.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale
• Experience with Python or Kotlin
• Experience with AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes
• Track record of delivering major features and system components
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for your team on a year-long time scale
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to manage technical risks and trade-offs
• Act as a force-multiplier through defining technical solutions and operational processes
• Ensure team operations and availability with proper monitoring, triage, and alerting
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership via code review and design standards
