Description

You will lead the technical direction and architecture of the next-generation Authentication and Authorization platform at Coupang, building highly reliable and scalable systems to deliver secure customer experiences across global markets. This role involves defining the platform strategy, mentoring senior engineers, and driving operational excellence.

Requirements

• 10+ years backend development experience
• 7+ years in Java/Kotlin/Spring service development and 3+ years in architecture leadership
• Proven experience designing and operating web-scale microservices with AWS and Kubernetes
• Deep expertise in diagnosing mission-critical system failures and institutionalizing preventive measures
• Strong communication and leadership skills to align stakeholders and drive technical decisions

Responsibilities

• Define and champion a 12–18 month platform strategy for AuthN/AuthZ
• Design multi-region, multi-tenant AuthN/AuthZ architectures and enforce API governance
• Lead complex system design ensuring backward compatibility, phased migrations, and data integrity
• Set and uphold SLOs, error budgets, and drive incident management and root-cause analysis
• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver reusable platform components and standards
