💼 About This Role

You'll develop and maintain the dimensional control systems that ensure large ship structures align properly during fabrication, assembly, and erection. You'll establish measurement standards and control processes to enable repeatable modular construction. This role is key to minimizing rework and fit-up issues in shipbuilding.

🎯 What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain the shipyard's accuracy control program for dimensional tolerances.
  • Implement measurement systems like laser scanning and total stations for structural verification.
  • Work with fabrication teams to ensure dimensional accuracy during block construction and erection.
  • Define allowable tolerances and coordinate with naval architects and structural engineers.

📋 Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
  • Understanding of dimensional control or metrology in large-scale manufacturing or construction.
  • Experience with large fabricated structures or modular assemblies.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and structural models.

✨ Nice to Have

  • Experience in shipbuilding, offshore fabrication, or heavy manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with industrial metrology like laser scanning or digital measurement systems.
  • Experience analyzing welding distortion and structural deformation.
