Description
As a Senior Research Engineer on the Systems Engineering team, you will assess collision risk by developing tooling and methods that quantify collision risk from on-road logs and simulation. You will drive validation and safety case improvements through analysis and cross-functional collaboration.
Requirements
- 5+ years technical work experience, with 3+ years in robotics software R&D (offboard or onboard).
- Experience with simulation and on-road testing of autonomous vehicles using metrics for good driving behavior.
- Strong algorithmic problem solving skills and Python experience.
- Highly collaborative with strong analytical and communication skills.
- Self-starter and fast learner, able to prioritize and manage workload to meet project deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop methods to evaluate collision risk in conflict scenarios using crash dynamics and predictive behavior modeling.
- Develop labeling processes and simulation software for parameter extraction from logged conflict scenarios.
- Leverage scientific literature and real-world data to model evasive maneuvers and collision severity.
- Evaluate, track, and report collision risk, making strategic recommendations for test realism, autonomy architecture, and mitigations.
- Communicate risks and requirements effectively in a cross-functional product development team.
