You'll combine device concept development, simulation, and hands-on experimental validation to mature new coupling approaches. 🎯 What You'll Do

• Develop novel device concepts for ultra-low-loss optical coupling between dissimilar platforms.
• Use simulation tools to study optical propagation, modal behaviour, and loss mechanisms.
• Design and execute experiments to validate device performance and coupling efficiency.
• Correlate modelling and experimental results to refine concepts and build technical feasibility.

📋 Requirements

• PhD in photonics, optics, physics, engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Significant experience in photonic device development and guided-wave optics.
• Strong understanding of mode conversion and optical coupling between dissimilar platforms.
• Hands-on experience designing and executing optical coupling experiments.

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience with advanced optical packaging or taper-based transitions.
• Experience with optimisation methods or inverse design for photonic structures.
• Experience in industrial photonics or high-performing applied research groups.
