💼 About This Role

You'll lead database strategy and own the full portfolio across AWS and GCP as the first database specialist on the DevOps team. You'll drive migration and modernization efforts while cross-training engineers so capability compounds. This role combines deep technical ownership with a chance to build a database practice from the ground up.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Own database operational health, security, and cost optimization.
• Lead Elasticsearch modernization and ClickHouse stabilization.
• Build and own database observability in Datadog.
• Partner with application teams on schema design and query optimization.
• Cross-train DevOps engineers on database operations.

📋 Requirements

• 5+ years hands-on database administration or engineering.
• Deep PostgreSQL expertise including replication and vacuum tuning.
• Production Elasticsearch operational experience at scale.
• Proficiency in Terraform and Kubernetes (EKS/GKE).

✨ Nice to Have

• ClickHouse or columnar database experience.
• Redis/Valkey/Dragonfly at production scale.
• Cloud cost optimization experience.
