💼 About This Role

You'll design and build core search engine components for next-generation search products at Perplexity. You'll own indexing pipelines, retrieval algorithms, and ranking systems operating at billions of pages while pushing hardware performance limits. This role offers the chance to shape foundational architecture in a high-load environment.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Design core search engine components (indexing, retrieval, ranking)
• Develop streaming and batch data processing for search index construction
• Push hardware performance through low-level system optimizations
• Tackle challenges in multithreading and concurrency

📋 Requirements

• 3+ years systems programming in Rust, C++, or C
• Full project lifecycle ownership from design to production operation
• Deep understanding of multithreading, concurrency, and Linux internals
• Experience building high-load distributed services

• Experience with search engine or database core components
• Understanding of search fundamentals (indexing, ranking, relevance)
• Familiarity with cloud services (Kubernetes, AWS)
