Description

You will provide full-time engineering and technical support at a high-profile government location in the Washington, DC area, with a hybrid schedule. You'll conduct design review and commissioning for fire protection, fire alarm, and life safety systems, and apply engineering principles to create performance-based solutions.

Requirements

• Minimum 7+ years experience in life safety, active and passive fire protection, and fire alarm systems
• Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred
• Excellent report writing and interpersonal skills
• Ability to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies
• Experience with NFPA codes and standards and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC)

Responsibilities

• Conduct design review and commissioning for fire protection, fire alarm, and life safety systems
• Evaluate designs for compliance with codes, owner intent, and maintenance requirements
• Develop statements of work for built environment projects
• Apply fire and life safety engineering principles to create performance-based solutions
• Perform calculations for means of egress, building height/area, sprinkler hydraulic capacity, and smoke control
