๐Ÿ’ผ About This Role

You'll lead the design, development, and validation of non-linear dynamic inversion control laws for Vertical Aerospace's eVTOL aircraft, Valo, ensuring airliner-level safety certification by 2028. You'll steer technical direction, collaborate across teams and suppliers, and be the face of control laws internally and externally.

๐ŸŽฏ What You'll Do

  • Lead architecture and tuning of non-linear dynamic inversion control laws for eVTOL
  • Ensure control laws meet performance, robustness, and safety objectives across flight regimes
  • Define control-law architecture and model-based implementation approach
  • Collaborate with Flight Control Systems, Actuation, and Control Law teams for requirements flow-down
  • Support integration of control laws in flight control computer and test infrastructures

๐Ÿ“‹ Requirements

  • Control law development for fly-by-wire rotorcraft, eVTOL, or high-performance fixed-wing platforms
  • Model-based design expertise (MATLAB/Simulink, ControlDesk) and real-time implementation
  • Certification standards knowledge: ARP 4754B, DO-178C/DO-331
  • Leadership in design from concept to certification-ready implementation

โœจ Nice to Have

  • Deep understanding of non-linear control, dynamic inversion, and gain scheduling
  • Experience with EASA SC.VTOL Means of Compliance
  • Exposure to flight test and piloted simulation
