💼 About This Role

You'll push the performance and reliability of Claude Code and the Bun JavaScript runtime, working deep in the runtime, kernel interfaces, and agent loop. Your work will make everything faster, leaner, and more reliable, and will also flow through to the Claude Code Agent SDK, Cowork, and other Labs projects. This is low-level systems engineering at the intersection of AI tooling and runtime optimization.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Design, build, and optimize core systems inside Bun and Claude Code
• Drive down memory usage, latency, and startup time
• Dig into performance problems across the stack
• Collaborate with researchers and product engineers
• Contribute to the Bun runtime and toolkit

📋 Requirements

• C and/or C++ and Rust experience
• Deep systems programming: syscalls, Linux internals, I/O, memory management
• Experience with language runtimes, VMs, compilers, or JS engines
• 5+ years of work experience

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience with JavaScriptCore or SpiderMonkey
• Familiarity with Zig
