💼 About This Role

You'll serve as the architectural conscience for Elliptic's early AI decisions, shaping tooling choices and agentic patterns before they crystallise. Your core impact is ensuring that internal AI foundations are designed for customer-facing scale and regulatory auditability. This role is for someone energised by making foundational technical decisions that others will build on for years.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Evaluate and recommend AI tooling against production-scale requirements.
• Work consultatively to ensure agentic patterns are designed for scale and auditability.
• Document trade-offs and evaluation criteria for AI stack decisions.
• Define engineering standards for model observability, prompt versioning, and cost governance.

📋 Requirements

• 5+ years experience in AI/ML engineering.
• Experience making production AI architectural decisions (evaluation frameworks, LLM integration).
• Built or significantly shaped an AI evaluation or observability framework in production.
• Operated effectively as a Staff IC without a team beneath them.

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience building agentic systems in production (orchestration, tool use, memory).
• Familiarity with LangSmith, MLflow, or Databricks ML ecosystems.
• Navigated a transition from scrappy AI to a well-engineered AI platform.
