You'll set the technical direction for MongoDB's Search and Vector Search infrastructure, building the core query engine that powers these capabilities. You'll own cross-system data infrastructure and drive multi-team initiatives that span 6-18 months. This role sits at the intersection of distributed systems, databases, and search infrastructure, offering a rare opportunity to shape a strategic product.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Define the technical roadmap for Atlas Search
• Lead architecture of the core mongot and MongoDB infrastructure
• Drive multi-team initiatives by building technical consensus
• Standardize how engineering teams contract with one another

📋 Requirements

• 8+ years experience in data management systems or distributed infrastructure
• Deep proficiency in Java or Rust
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale
• Ability to reason about systems at the physical layer: consistency, durability, concurrency

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience designing search platforms or distributed databases
• Experience building query engines or information retrieval systems
• Contributor to Lucene or similar projects
