You'll guide projects end-to-end in Pay Group Engineering, building the future of Gusto's Payroll and Tax systems. You'll collaborate across teams to improve scalability and extensibility, making complex compliance simple for customers. This role offers the chance to work on large-scale Ruby/Rails and TypeScript/React applications and mentor fellow engineers.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Function as a Technical Lead across multiple teams in Payroll Services.
• Design, build, and test the foundation for compliant payroll for millions.
• Collaborate on complex problems with cross-functional teams.
• Drive product development from concept to launch.

📋 Requirements

• 15+ years of experience
• Strong knowledge of data structures and system design
• Experience working across 3+ teams influencing direction
• Experience building platform products depended upon company-wide

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience in highly regulated domains like HR, Payroll, Taxes, or Compliance
• Experience using AI tools to build and iterate products
