Description

As a staff engineer on the internal platform team, you will shape Aiven's platform strategy, own BYOC offerings and networking features, partner with engineering leaders, and drive delivery outcomes.

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience
• Experience in building and designing distributed systems in a cloud environment
• Strong knowledge of database fundamentals (OLAP vs. OLTP, persistence, replication, clustering)
• Good grasp of monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry
• Ability to work with SQL
• Deep understanding of release management and testing best practices
• Excellent communication skills in English
• Product thinking and ability to design cloud-native products

Responsibilities

• Partner with engineering leaders to influence the domain's roadmap
• Own delivery outcomes for the domain and drive improvements in software delivery lifecycle
• Empower team to act as product custodians by addressing foundational and production issues
• Foster a psychologically safe, high-trust environment
• Practice effective communication and collaboration across the organization
• Set the standard for code quality and system design, guide implementation in Python
