Description
You will lead the Health Ecosystems (HECO) Pillar within the Health Collaborative program, designing and delivering leadership programs, applied research, and strategic partnerships to strengthen health systems across Africa. Your work will focus on developing a new generation of health leaders and translating evidence into impactful capacity-building initiatives.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Public Health, Health Systems, Healthcare Management, Health Policy, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in health programs, leadership development, health policy, research coordination, or health systems strengthening.
- Strong understanding of African health systems, public sector health delivery, and institutional governance.
- Demonstrated experience working with health institutions, government agencies, regulators, or multilateral partners.
- Research literacy: ability to interpret, synthesize, and apply research and data to program design and decision-making.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, partnership coordination, and communication skills.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and documentation skills.
- Desirable: Experience supporting donor-funded programs or fellowship initiatives; familiarity with healthcare quality improvement frameworks and performance measurement tools; exposure to executive education, leadership development, or health workforce training programs.
Responsibilities
- Program Design, Coordination & Delivery: Support the design, planning, and implementation of health leadership programs, including the Public Sector Fellowship Program with CRA; collaborate with ALU's Business School and external experts to support MBA health specializations and executive education programs; ensure programs align with national health priorities, workforce needs, and emerging health system challenges.
- Research & Evidence-Informed Programming: Support integration of health systems research, policy analysis, and data insights into programs and partnerships; work with researchers to translate findings into practical tools, leadership curricula, and institutional interventions; contribute to concept notes, learning briefs, and knowledge products.
- Strategic Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement: Build and manage relationships with public and private healthcare institutions, ministries of health, regulatory bodies, and policy organizations; coordinate partnerships with donors, healthcare executives, academic institutions, and implementing partners; support funding mobilization through proposals, donor reporting, and partnership strategy development; facilitate convenings, peer-learning sessions, and knowledge-exchange forums.
- Monitoring, Data Management & Reporting: Track program performance indicators including leadership outcomes, hospital performance scores, and institutional change metrics; prepare high-quality narrative and data-driven reports for funders and partners; support continuous improvement using data and feedback.
- Safeguarding & Ethical Practice: Uphold ALU's safeguarding standards ensuring safety and well-being of students, fellows, and partners; maintain zero-tolerance approach to safeguarding violations.
- Internal Collaboration & Institutional Alignment: Work closely with ALU academic teams to align HECO programs with curriculum priorities, faculty research, and experiential learning; collaborate with Center for a Reimagined Africa (CRA) and ALU School of Business to co-design and deliver public sector fellowships, health-focused MBA tracks, executive education, and applied leadership modules; support cross-center proposal development, donor reporting, and joint convenings.
