As a Senior Backend Software Engineer at Marqeta, you will develop scalable backend services, architect solutions, and mentor engineers while shipping impactful products in a modern card issuing platform.

Requirements

• 5+ years backend engineering experience (or 3+ with advanced degree, or 8+ without degree)
• Experience with Java
• Experience with Cloud environments (AWS preferred)
• Experience with SQL and Microservices architecture
• Experience building scalable software platforms

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver well-scoped milestones for projects
• Actively level up less-experienced team members
• Write clear, bug-free code that is flexible and reusable
• Lead design for small to medium components/features
• Participate in on-call coverage rotation
