💼 About This Role

You'll own the mechanical design and thermal management of a ruggedized compute payload for autonomous robotic platforms. You'll take your designs from concept through prototyping, fabrication, and integration on real robots. This role offers hands-on hardware development and direct collaboration with machine shops.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Design rugged enclosures and mounting systems using Solidworks
• Size heat sinks with hand calculations and first principles
• Create manufacturing drawings and collaborate with machine shops
• Assemble payloads and integrate onto robotic platforms

📋 Requirements

• Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• Strong proficiency in Solidworks for 3D design and drafting
• Solid understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer hand calculations
• Hands-on experience with prototyping and fabrication (machining, 3D printing, sheet metal)

✨ Nice to Have

• Active participation in student design teams (e.g., Formula SAE, Baja SAE)
• Prior project or internship experience in electronics packaging or thermal management
• Familiarity with environmental testing (shock, vibration, IP ratings)
