💼 About This Role

You'll join the infrastructure team at Amplitude, building and operating backend systems that handle over 1 trillion events per month. You'll design for extreme throughput, optimize for millisecond latencies, and build resilient systems with near-zero downtime. This role is a technical anchor, leading design discussions and mentoring engineers.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Take infrastructure projects from ideation to production
• Design and build highly reliable, maintainable backend services
• Optimize performance and cost of data infrastructure
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and engineering teams

📋 Requirements

• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field
• 5+ years in Software Engineering, with 2+ years in Java
• Strong foundation in programming, algorithms, and software design
• Previous experience in distributed systems and large-scale backend services

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience leading or mentoring engineers
• Experience with stream processing, message queues, or data pipelines (e.g., Kafka)
• Experience operating production systems on Kubernetes or using Terraform
