Description

You will provide technical leadership for the mechanical design and development of the core technology, the Node, a device designed to produce energy in harsh ocean conditions. You are responsible for the hull structural design and integrity, and you will build and manage a team to support future iterations of the Nodes. This role requires deep structural design experience, outstanding technical contributions, and effective leadership in a humble, high-performance culture.

Requirements

• Degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, naval architecture, marine engineering, or related field
• Extensive experience designing components, structures, and assemblies from various materials
• 10+ years of 3D CAD modeling experience
• 5+ years experience with large scale, safety critical welded steel structures
• Strong skills in hand calculations and structural FEA

Responsibilities

• Accountable for Node Hull structural design and integrity
• Accountable for the team that defines Node primary and secondary structures
• Lead and participate in design reviews with internal team and external fabricators/vendors
• Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering technical excellence
• Oversee project documentation and create detailed engineering releases using drawings and GD&T
