Description

You will work with onboard autonomy, evaluation infrastructure, data science, operations, and simulation teams to evaluate autonomous vehicle performance in collision avoidance scenarios. Your role involves identifying gaps in onroad and simulation tests, designing tests to fill those gaps, reviewing test outcomes, and reporting on residual risk to leadership and the safety case.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Math, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Physics, or related field
  • Strong algorithmic problem solving and coding experience (Python or C++)
  • Experience designing simulation-based evaluation suites and scenarios for autonomous vehicles with well-defined metrics
  • 5+ years technical work experience in relevant area, with 3+ years in robotics SW
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering concepts (requirements, verification and validation)

Responsibilities

  • Design realistic scenarios for collision avoidance and detection using replay simulations and synthetic accident reconstructions
  • Develop validation strategies for Automated Emergency Braking functions using simulation and structured testing
  • Identify gaps in simulation and public roads testing and design structured test scenarios based on NHTSA/NCAP standards
  • Author test and residual risk reports, making strategic recommendations for improving simulation or test realism and autonomy architecture
  • Support the safety case by identifying, documenting, and communicating collision avoidance and simulation/test realism claims
