Description

You will lead a dedicated team providing holistic legal services to survivors of intimate partner violence in Harlem and Upper Manhattan, including direct representation in family law matters, supervision of staff attorneys, and community outreach.

Requirements

• Licensed to practice law in New York State
• Minimum 3 years of experience in family law, particularly representing survivors of intimate partner violence
• Experience supervising or mentoring attorneys
• Strong litigation and courtroom skills
• Commitment to serving low-income communities and understanding of systemic injustices

Responsibilities

• Conduct intakes, provide legal advice, brief services, and assessments
• Provide safety planning and legal referrals to clients
• Represent survivors in family law and matrimonial cases in New York County Family, Supreme and Integrated Domestic Violence courts
• Supervise staff attorneys, providing legal guidance, mentorship, training, and performance evaluations
• Conduct community outreach, including client intake at outreach clinics and establishing relationships with community organizations
