💼 About This Role

You'll own the end-to-end risk and safety strategy for Zipline's autonomous delivery systems. You'll define what "acceptably safe" means and drive quantitative safety cases with first-principles reasoning. This role offers real technical authority and the chance to shape safety across global operations.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Own quantitative safety case and decompose top-level safety objectives
• Lead fault tree analysis and hazard budget allocation
• Monitor emerging risks and ensure safety analysis validity
• Grow and lead the System Risk and Safety Engineering team

📋 Requirements

• BS/MS in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
• 8+ years delivering safety-critical electromechanical systems into operation
• System-level safety analysis ownership and decision-making
• First-principles reasoning with incomplete regulations

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience at intersection of engineering design and live operations
• Regulator-facing safety cases or certification efforts
• Scaling cross-functional Safety Management Systems
