💼 About This Role

You'll join our Platform Engineering team to build the foundational data systems our products depend on. You'll own and develop our data infrastructure strategy, from storage systems to retrieval infrastructure, directly shaping what Astro, Observe, and our IDE can do. This is a foundational role with organizational backing and a direct impact over several years.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Own and develop data infrastructure strategy and practice.
• Map out needs, make decisions, and own outcomes.
• Make principled build vs. buy assessments and advocate for the right tools.
• Create and maintain comprehensive internal documentation and decision records.

📋 Requirements

• Extensive, hands-on experience designing and building data infrastructure at scale.
• Strong proficiency in Go and deep, practical experience with Kubernetes at the operator level.
• In-depth knowledge of relational, NoSQL, blob, timeseries, and vector databases.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and Non-Abstract Large Systems Design.

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience with Postgres-compatible managed services or distributed databases like Spanner.
• Experience building internal data platforms from cloud-native component parts.
• Experience with Apache Airflow.
