Description

Join the Maui Habilitation Team as a Companion/Buddy to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities develop independence in the community. You'll build one-on-one relationships, support clients in hobbies and activities like Special Olympics, and help with goals such as budgeting, socializing, and using public transportation. Flexible afternoon shifts available for school-aged clients.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 18 years of age
• Passion for providing opportunities to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
• Patience, empathy and dedication
• No experience required

Responsibilities

• Build long-lasting relationships in a one-on-one setting a few hours a week
• Spend time on client's favorite hobbies and activities, like Special Olympics
• Support clients in developing independence and achieving goals (e.g., budgeting, socializing, shopping, using public transportation, exercise)
• Attend to individual's needs with dignity and respect
• Ensure client safety and well-being in home and community
