Description

You will architect and improve Airbnb's Bazel-based build system to accelerate development velocity for engineers and AI coding agents across the company. Your work on remote build/cache infrastructure, CI pipelines, and flaky test management will directly impact the speed and reliability of the entire engineering organization.

Requirements

• 8+ years industry experience.
• Bachelor's and/or Master's degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience.
• Metrics-driven approach to decision-making with track record for delivering quantifiable impact.
• Expertise in Bazel, action graph, dependency analysis, remote caching.
• Ability to drive cross-organizational alignment and decisions for investments.
• Strong ability to review code.

Responsibilities

• Architect improvements to existing Bazel installation and remote build/cache infrastructure to improve correctness, reproducibility, and speed.
• Set the technical roadmap for software build system reliability and performance.
• Accelerate inner-loop development velocity and CI run-times by diagnosing and resolving build performance bottlenecks.
• Drive organizational alignment on build system investments across multiple teams and technical domains.
• Serve as the technical authority on build systems across Airbnb, setting standards and mentoring senior engineers.
• Partner with Security on optimizing build processes related to base images.
• Ensure a commitment to craft and operational excellence.
