💼 About This Role

You'll design, build, and operate high-performance backend services across Abnormal's core platform — API, data model, notifications, and LLM inference infrastructure. Your work directly enables every product team to launch and scale reliably. This senior IC role is in an AI-native team where you'll treat AI tools as core infrastructure and shape platform practices.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Design and operate services across Django, Go, Kafka, Redis, and ElasticSearch.
• Lead end-to-end delivery of platform features from design to launch.
• Drive SLO-backed reliability improvements for Tier-0 systems.
• Contribute to LLM inference platform with model routing and provider integrations.

📋 Requirements

• 5+ years backend engineering experience with production services at scale.
• 4+ years with Python/Django or Go, MySQL/PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis, ElasticSearch.
• 3+ years supporting enterprise customers with SLO ownership and on-call.
• 2+ years system design experience leading cross-team architectures.

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience building with LLMs in production (provider APIs, model routing, evals).
• Experience with notification delivery or licensing platforms.
• Experience mentoring engineers and acting as tech lead.
