You will join a dynamic housing unit implementing New York City's Right to Counsel law, defending low-income tenants in eviction proceedings, housing court, administrative hearings, and appeals. You'll develop expertise in housing law, conduct community outreach, and train tenant associations and community groups.

Requirements

  • Law degree (JD) or law graduate
  • Admission to New York State Bar or eligibility
  • Commitment to social justice and tenant rights
  • Excellent oral advocacy and writing skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Defend tenants in eviction proceedings in housing court
  • Represent tenants in administrative hearings
  • Bring affirmative litigation in state and federal court
  • Handle appeals at all levels
  • Perform community outreach and provide legal information, advice, and counsel
