Description

You will perform structural analysis and design for MDOT bridge projects, conduct load rating analyses, and prepare design drawings and technical reports while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Your work ensures safe, compliant infrastructure solutions from concept through construction.

Requirements

• B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• PE License in Michigan or ability to obtain
• Minimum 4 years of bridge design, load rating, or inspection experience
• Experience with MDOT and/or municipalities preferred
• Strong communication and client relation skills
• Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
• Strong organization and leadership skills
• Ability to perform complex analysis and design
• Ability to assemble complete design packages
• Ability to work in a team environment

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for MDOT bridge projects
• Prepare structural calculations, design drawings, and technical specifications
• Conduct load rating analyses using MDOT-approved methods and software
• Coordinate with roadway, hydraulics, geotechnical, and environmental teams
• Provide technical support from concept through final design and construction
• Participate in quality control reviews
• Assist in project cost estimates and construction schedules
• Review shop drawings, contractor submittals, and RFIs
• Perform site visits for bridge inspections and construction observation
• Prepare technical reports and design narratives
• Communicate project status to project manager and stakeholders
• Maintain professional licensure and complete continuing education
• Manage compilation of plans, specifications, cost estimates, and pay items
• Prepare bridge load rating reports
• Coordinate tasks with Project Manager
• Lead structural designers and inspectors on projects
• Assume responsibility for design files and ensuring QC reviews
