Description

You will lead the design, development, and qualification of rocket turbopumps for the Raptor engine, taking concepts from initial design to flight. You'll own critical components, perform hydrodynamic and mechanical analysis, and collaborate with manufacturing and testing teams to deliver high-performance turbopumps on an aggressive schedule.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering
• 1+ years of turbomachinery design experience (incl. internships)
• Strong understanding of pump hydro/aerodynamic design and turbomachinery fundamentals
• Understanding of thermodynamics, compressible and incompressible flow
• Experience with CAD (Siemens NX preferred) and FEA (Ansys CFX/mechanical/thermal)

Responsibilities

• Design, build and test turbopumps for liquid fueled rocket engines and spacecraft systems
• Own critical turbomachinery components and collaborate with manufacturing and assembly
• Perform hydrodynamic sizing and flowpath design for impellers and diffusers
• Conduct detailed mechanical analysis and review drawings for life and reliability targets
• Develop first principles-based tools to determine turbopump performance and operability
